" The drunk singer was maced by a police officer after he was caught kissing a fan backstage. The angry singer as a result mocked the police in his song and called him a "little blue pig". He was arrested on stage which insighted an angry riot from the fans in the concert. It's Iconic because it was the first recorded moment a singer had started a riot on stage in a concert."
In collaboration with peer and fine artist Rosie Poole
BRIEF:
create and direct a photograph that portrays the moment an icon was arrested between the 60s and 80s. No execution is off limits.
IDEA/EXECUTION:
Jim Morrison was known as the stereotypical rockstar with a bad temper, rebellious towards authority and an alcohol/ drug abuser. His most iconic arrest was New Haven 1967.
Baring in mind the ongoing hatred towards the police during the 60s, we used the skin of a real pigs head and placed it on our second model. we wanted to portray a sort of twisted affair between the cop and the rockstar. as if they needed each other. Enabling each other. we surrounded the models with Morrisons downfall. his record albums, condoms, drugs and liquor with his discarded lyrics. and in the forefront, portray the only iconic moment that mattered in his life.
INSPIRATION:
-People's reference to the police today as "The Pigs"
-"The Requiem for a Dream" directed by Darren Aronofsky.
-John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Rolling Stones magazine cover.
