WIDE EYED: What would kids look like without innocence?

What
adults would look like if they never lost theirs?

Federico Fellini:  “Hold on to your childlike innocence. It’s the most important thing”

BRIEF:

The task was to take inspiration from the film “Moxie”  and then create our own campaign/revolution for change  about something we’re passionate about! It involves creating four outputs including the video. my choice? a zine, an AR filter, photographs and a video to tie it all together.

with so much horror going on in the world and the grown-up eye narrowed with apathy, I created a campaign that reminds us all what it was like to see the world from a child's perspective.
I realise that the world truly lacks empathy and the cause for it all is apathy. if you look back at a time before we all saw the world this way, you'll realise that you were probably a kid.
My campaigns base was to act as awareness for adults not to lose that innocence and humanity that dulls the older we become.

IDEA/MANIFESTO:

INSPIRATION:

It had to be Margaret Keene. I definitely felt inspired by the movie “Big eyes” and the idea of the eyes being the windows to the soul. It was interesting how as children the wider our eyes seem to be and the more exposed the windows to our soul are. And the older we get, the narrower our eyes become. Its a cheesy thought but one that makes sense.

EXECUTION:

ZINE: A simple way to express what a creative cares about in the form of a few colours and imagery,  like storytelling but in a creative/visual way.  a mini magazine of sorts to put together my entire manifesto, philosophy, thoughts and outputs on what childish innocence looks like and the world is missing it.

AR FILTER: in order to create the wide eyed look, smoothed out skin and that chubby round face we all associate with innocence, I used sparks AR and a face mesh I downloaded online. I wanted an interactive aspect to my project, where anyone could point their camera at an everyday scenario but add my artistic interpretation onto it. before you know it. my manifesto becomes a revolution!

PHOTOGRAPHS: In order to create a zine that ties everything together, I needed some shocking and provocative photographs to prove my point with few to no words. I thought of the typical terrible scenarios we see adults do everyday but never bat an eye, then simple switched it to kids. with wider eyes.

VIDEO: i attempted a mannequin challenge where my actors kept the pose from the photographs in order to create a jounrey of each of my scenarios into one. I then went on a day out in London. from Camden to oxford street on a friday night to film everyday adults, doing everyday adult things. from ages and walks of life. fully illustrating the difference between children that reflect adults and adult who reflect children.

Photographs taken as part of a Mannequin Challenge portraying a world where kids act as adults do and adults as kids do. If the innocence were reversed.
